CNY catch up!

Happy to catch up with Bee Kim together with my poly mates. Time flies, we have known each other for like almost 20 years! OMG! Happy that Bee Kim is happily married with two lovely kiddos.

My Bella! & Prof, his italian hubby! I'm blessed to get to know her @ Starhub. She's one of my few working colleagues who has become my buddy. :) I miss our times @ our cosy Programme Library @ Starhub. I'm happy for her that she has found her true happiness also. :) Hmnn...by God's Grace, I hope to find mine soon.

Ok, Violet-san took this wefie while on our way to church early morning. :D Amongst my poly mates, I'm closer to Violet-san & Bee Kim. We can talk almost anything under the sun. I really thank God for blessing me with such good friends!

This year CNY was extra special coz 3 of my buddies came back to S'pore to spend this festive occasion to spend with family and friends. I was so elated to catch up with each of them! :)

First to catch up with was Bella. She was back with her Italian hubby, nicknamed "Professor". :D We met up to have dinner @ Genki Sushi. Everytime Bella is back to S'pore, we will meet up without fail. How I miss our working times together @ Starhub! I hope & pray to be able to visit her @ Italy soon! ;) She will be back again on August.

Second to catch up with was dear Violet-san. She was back from Taiwan for 2 weeks & stayed over @ my place. Had a blessed time out with her - We went CNY church service together, had a pampering massage session together & an enjoyable 元宵 dinner together with my mum. She has flew back to Taiwan and will be back again on May to attend her bro's ROM. Violet asked me to visit her @ Taiwan. :)

Last but not least, its my dear friend, Bee Kim who's back from England with her hubby & two cutie sons! Thank God this time round, we were able to see her boys! :D Especially me & Kexin who are sooo looking forward to see them. Haha! We went over to Bee Kim's sis' place on the 5th day of CNY 初五. Though a mother a two, Bee Kim still looks so lovely & slim as ever! So, so envious of her! :) Though it was a few hours gathering, we managed to take quite a few photos together. Hmnnn...I hope to be to visit Bee Kim @England soon too.

Gosh,perhaps I should embark on a year's journey like the author in Eat, Pray, Love. I will go to 3 countries also - England, Italy, Taiwan. ;) Dream come true!

Gangnam 1970

A very manly Minho as Korean Mafia, Kim Jongdae. Looks like the Korean version of "Godfather". :D Suddenly made me wanna watch the Hollywood Classic. Maybe I should? Ahh...Al Pacino!

The much awaited Korean Gangster Noir Film "Gangnam 1970" starring Lee Minho & Kim Rae Won has finally opened in theatres in Singapore on 29 January! I caught the movie with a fellow Minoz whom I got to know recently @ Vivocity GV. The movie was rated R21, uncensored. Wow, this was actually my 1st Adult Rated movie. Haha! & it had to be Minho's 1st movie as lead. :O

The movie as expected, was an intense one. It was quite hard to digest with the graphic violence & 3 sex scenes ( & I mean raw graphic sex scene). 1 of the sex scenes being Kim Rae Won & his girlfriend (Who was his mafia boss' mistress). I must say WOW to KRW's hot bod. hahaa! A pity Minho's sex scene with the madam was edited out. I was so looking forward for it, especially wanna see Minho's hot bod too! （色色的我。哈哈！）

But the thing about Korean films & other foreign films who focused on storytelling & realistic action are better as compared to Hollywood films which paid attention to more of the special effects.

Overall, I find the movie didn't really had time to build up the two main characters - Kim Jong Dae (Lee Minho) & Baek Yong-ki (Kim Rae Won). It focused mainly on the violence. Though I know its a gangster noir film but the story plot should be able to written better. Maybe I should watch the Hollywood Classic "The Godfather" to compare the difference between Hollywood gangster noir film & korean gangster noir film.

Frankly speaking, if its not for supporting Minho, I probably will not catch "Gangnam 1970" @ all as Gangster Noir films not really to my liking. Too much violence made me yawned quite a few times. :P

& the ending, as expected, (as Minho said that its a tragedy) my guess was correct - both Jong Dae & Yong-ki died, a violent one. The only difference is that one of a quick death, the other of a slow death.

I'm amazed of Minho's choice of this particular movie, coz' its like a 180 degree change of image! But what I like about Minho is that he's always up to taking challenging roles. I hope this will be his breakthrough role especially into the movies! More better roles for him!

Two of my friends commented that they find that Lee Minho doesn't look like a gangster @ all in the movie, as compared to Kim Rae Won. :( & both said that KRW acted better. Its so unfair to compare when they didn't watch the movie @ all! & both coincidentally are KRW's fans. I personally find that Minho & KRW' had great chemistry on-screen & off-screen. :) & I that they enhanced each other's acting in the movie.

Oh well, everybody is subject to their own opinion but its important to respect others' likes. Be more sensitive to others.

Birdman 飞鸟侠

Caught Birdman with Laipeng-si last weekend. When Peng initially asked if I wanna go catch the movie as she read of good reviews, I was like ok, but what the heck of the title? Sounds pretty obscene to me, yo! Haha! Later on, I came to know from Shida that its a comic hero from Marvel Comic.

The reason that I didn't mind to watch it mainly being because one of my favourite Hollywood actors, Michael Keaton is the lead. :) Like him since "Beetlejuice" & "Batman". To me, he's the best "Batman"! He hasn't been in a movie for quite for awhile now. I reckon he was waiting for a good script such as "Birdman". :)

"Birdman" is a brilliant dark comedy & Michael Keaton acts as a actor (Riggan Thomson) who was haunted by his widely known-role as the comic hero "Birdman" and kept hearing the voice of Birdman.He was stereotyped after acting in the role & nobody really takes his acting seriously. So he decided to write, direct & starred on a musical to prove to others that he's a credible actor. Other than the flawless performance by Michael Keaton, the rest of the cast is strong as well - with Edward Norton as the Narcissistic & volatile actor, Naomi Watts as the aspiring actress who looks forward to her 1st Broadway musical, Emma Stone as Michael Keaton's estranged daughter.

The movie sort of touched on the topic of depression among actors & those alike (musicians/scriptwriters/writers etc). We often see their glamourous side on screen. But off screen, they might have an unknown sad/dark side - some struggled with booze, drugs and sex. I guess becoz' their profession always require them to touch on their emotions - both positive & negative. 有些入戏太深，无法抽出来。过后，就会得忧郁症。The more successful & popular they are, on the top, the lonelier they get. Like my favourite Minho-si, he said he gets lonely @times. I reckon thats why, he yearns for a soul mate to be with & constantly having fan meetings to meet his fans.

有时，觉得明星这行有点虚幻。孙燕姿曾经说过 - 开演唱会的时候，听到掌声时，感觉很high。可是，落幕之后，感觉很失落。过后，她结婚生子了。我觉得她现在比较开心，踏实。替她开心.

Its not easy being under the spotlight constantly and I reckon finding a good Balance is the key. Thats where Michael Keaton in real life has found. I saw in a recent interview that he bought a ranch & has been living there these few years, away from the limelight.

Back to "Birdman". Michael Keaton won the Best Actor in a Motion Picture @ the recent Golden Globe Awards. He is also nominated for Best Actor in the Oscars. I hope he wins! :)

City Hunter

Finished watching last Minho drama marathon "City Hunter" for a few months but kept forgetting to write a review on my blog. :P

The reason that I put "City Hunter" as the Minho's last drama in my drama marathon & struggled to finish watching the drama is the same - reason of course not being Minho-si (He's the reason that I watched it! :D) but the lead actress, Park Min Young. Friends asked me was the reason being Lee & Park became an item because of the drama? I said no. Actually before I like Minho-si, I've watched the trailer of "City Hunter" before. The 1st time that I saw Park Min Young, I already erhmmm...ahhh...didn't really like her. Why, if you ask me? 就是看她不顺眼啦。我觉得她的样子很假，就是那种有整过容得脸。:S For me, when I watch a drama, both of the lead actress & actor must attract me. If not, I will not watch @ all. :P

Ok, I'm sure many fans will agree with me that Minho's physique looked the best in "City Hunter" as compared to the rest of his dramas. Actually, I was expecting to see him in more action scenes in the drama but the story seemed to be focused on his love relationship with Park Min Young's persona, Kim NaNa. I find that not very well balanced. Hmnnn...or is it because I don't really like Park Min Young, thats why. haha!

But Minho had more action scenes (fighting scenes) in "Faith". He looked darn cool! :D But still had time to build up his love relationship with Kim Hee Soon's persona, Yoo Eun-soo.

But it was interesting to see Minho in disguise as sort of spy in the drama. :D

Korea Autumn Trip Day 4 - Jeju Island (Sangumburi Crater & Sunrise Peak)

I really enjoyed being @ Jeju Island though it was a short 2 Days 1 Night trip. It's relaxing, peaceful & with several beautiful nature sceneries. I would love to go back for a longer trip next time round. :)
