The Promise 向日葵的约定

Finally got to watch the Channel U telemovie "The Promise" written by Violet. I missed the actual telecast so she burned into DVD-R for me. :) Its a simple yet touching story. In life, Its the simple things that are powerful. "The Promise" is definitely a tint of fresh air, it stands out from the usual storylines of extra-marital affairs, complicated love relationships etc. :O It makes me wonder that is life that complicated as its supposed to be or is it humans the ones that are complicated? :-/

Kudos to the production team for choosing such a good cast- be it newbies like the two leads, Lawrence & Julie or experienced thespians like Lin Meijiao, they complement each other. Good chemistries between them. The lead actress, Julie really brought out the innocence & simplicity of the character, who is mild intellectually handicapped. She looks sweet, easy on the eye & likable. The lead actor, Lawrence a familiar face in commercials did a good job too. He could grasp the emotions well, especially with his rather stormy relationship with his dad. & Lin Meijiao brought the struggles of a single mum so well that during 1 of the emotional scenes, I almost shed a tear. I guess partly becoz I'm a person who gets touched easily. 我是一个容易感动的人. I reckon this is a very tender part of me. :) Tender & sensitive side. The actor who played the effeminate Bakery boss was so funny as well.

Overall, I enjoyed the telemovie. 3 Cheers to Violet-san! :) Keep up the good work, hope to see more of your works being showcased. Ganbatte ne!
