Dog Whisperer: Caesar Millan

I'm a big fan of the Nat Geo show "Dog Whisperer". I find it interesting to see how Caesar works to rehabilitate dogs with behavior problems, with his philosophy that healthy, balanced dogs require strong 'Pack Leadership' from their owners, specifically in the form of exercise, discipline & affection. (In that order)

However, I'm more fascinated with Caesar Millan's life story as I know he was an illegal immigrant before he made it big @U.S. I was wondering it would be interesting to be able to watch his Life Story. & few weeks ago, I had a chance to watch it on Nat Geo channel, right after the airing of Dog Whisperer. Perfect Timing or what. :D

From an impoverished illegal immigrant to internationally known star! Amazing! & it was really evidently God's Grace & His Hand upon Caesar Millan's life.

Caesar Millan grew up in Mexico & worked with dogs on his Grandfather's farm. Because of the constant time spent with dogs, the locals named him "El Perrero" (The Dog Boy).

At the age of 21, he decided to leave home to seek opportunities in America. He crossed the border into U.S without a visa, spoke no English, knew no one there. Initially, he found odd jobs as dish washer etc to earn a living & he slept under a bridge. It wasn't till a few months later that he saved up enough money to fly to his destination, Los Angeles. There, he first worked in an animal shelter, taking care of dogs. He offered to help dog owners walk their dogs for free. Before he knew it, he became famous as the "Mexican Dog Guy" & reporters followed him &interviewed him. A particular female reporter commented that Life seems good for him now, what does he want next? He replied that he wants his own TV program. Amazingly, shortly after, a door of opportunity is opened for him on Nat Geo & the rest is history!

However, life was not all smoothly sailing afterwards. In 2010, Caesar's wife filed for a divorce. Caesar then slipped into a depression & committed suicide. But he didn't die. He said God didn't want him to die. Cause even if he swallowed dozens of pills & if God doesn't want him to die yet, he will not die. He said that that means it must be his mission in not finished yet. Interesting of how Caesar puts it. Well, Thank God he didn't die! Or else there will not be a Dog Whisperer anymore! :)
