Watched this movie with Annie-san yesterday. Heard of good reviews of it, so thought to check it out. However, review from 93.8 Melanie Olivero in the Channel Newsasia morning show was not so, 2 popcorns out of 5 only....so miserable. She commented on Cate Blancett's acting but slammed Brad Pitt's that he didn't have much of emotions-wise. But she did mention that those who like the movie "Big Fish" will like this. I was pretty I would coz I liked it! :) I was surprised of the poor review but chose not concern so much of it. I rather watch for myself 1st to decide.
The movie did not disappoint. Fine Oscar material, I would say. The story is about Benjamin Button, who ages backwards. Interesting philosophical values- 1)Its better to grow old naturally & gracefully. 2)Looks don't last forever, in the end, its the heart that matters. 3)Don't let age be an issue 4)Live life to the fullest 5)All things happen for a reason.
Cate Blancett totally shines acting as Daisy, Benjamin's love. She looks just so unique & is convincing in every role. I like her ever since her Elf Queen role in Lord of the Rings. Simply mesmerizing! She looks like a Goddess in every way.
It was fun watching movie with Annie, we discussed about our thoughts of the movie over dinner. She really observed& analysed every detail, the message that its trying to bring across.
Although I don't really like Brad Pitt, (I seriously do not understand why the girls are so crazy about him)but I can't deny that he's a good actor. He's natural as Benjamin Button. I reckon the role requires him to be as minimal emotions as possible, something like Forrest Gump. He's convincing as the lead character. He's got the bod, the height & the looks, I must admit. However, my favourite is still no doubt....WM! :) (Singing away "Nothing gonna change my love for you" to him....:P) Great chemistry between him & Cate Blanchett.
Next movie will be Mr Pitt's GF, Ms Jolie's "Changeling".
