Movie Reviews

Been watching a few movies premiere- Prince of Persia & the latest Toy Story 3, Knight & Day.

Prince of Persia was based on a video game with the same name. My buddy, Shida heard before & said that the lead character is tall, tanned, muscular & good-looking. When we both learnt that it was Jake Gyllenhaal playing the lead, we practically just rolled our eyes. I mean with a surname like that....Jake...what the Hell....oops! I completely don't comprehend why on earth he is able to act in the 1st place, with that goofy look. He & his sister, Maggie both have that kind of look - same product of a family. Later on, I would have learn that both of them have a certain director as their daddy oh. No wonder explains the smooth path to stardom, regardless they can act or not. Ok, back to the movie. Mr Jake WTH in my point of view, tried too hard to be ultra charming & cool like a suave hero, but didn't quite succeed though as what I see. Well, other die-hard fans will certainly disagree. However, I like the lead actress, Gemma Arteton who acts as the princess, simply lovely & exotic! She's recently remembered for a Goddess role in Clash of the Titans. She really has that kind of ancient beautiness & aura in her. Classic English Beauty. I didn't know that she's a Bond Girl too. Hope to see more of her. :) 3 out of 5 popcorns. For peerly entertainment & special effects, nothing else.

Toy Story 3 is the final goodbye. Its about moving on & letting go. Woody's owner, Andy is all grown up & preparing to head off for college, leaving Woody & the rest of the loyal toys pondering about their uncertain futures. Whilst clearing his stuff, the toys accidentally taken to Sunnyside Daycare. @1st, everything was seemingly bright & 'sunny' as the leader of the toys - a chubby pink bear by the name of Lotso gave a warm welcome. But soon after, they realized that it was living hell for them. They were placed in the room for untamed toddlers - they were squashed & thrown about. Woody decided to rescue his friends. He & his friends in the midst were nearly became 'recycled' products. Two very interesting new characters were added in the movie - Barbie & Ken. Ken is a meteosexual who's all obsessed with himself & Barbie is all sweet, girly & 'doll-like' like the way she does. Both of them falling in love with each other. The funniest part was when Barbie asked Ken to model for her some of his outfits. Absolutely hilarious! Buzz Lightyear is also darn funny, he was accidentally programmed in Spanish Mode & he gets all romantic towards Jessie, the cowgirl. Us watching inside the cinema all roared with laughter! :D I laughed so hard till tears rolling down. There were touching moments too - Andy gave Woody & his other toys to a cute little girl named Bonnie. After entrusting her to care for the toys, he left. I shed a tear watching this scene. 4 our of 5 popcorns - Good storyline, humourous & touching.
Finally, Knight & Day. Three words to describe it - A Delightful Surprise! Was curious to watch this movie coz of the fresh & new combo of the duo - Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz. I was surprised @their chemistry, which @1st I thought would be lacking of. Throughout the whole movie, its like a rollercoaster ride, with no boring moment, story moved on fast from one place to another place. & whilst making it believable that @such a short time, for the two lead characters, Roy Miller & June Havens (played by Cruise & Diaz) to fall in love. Cameron Diaz has such a fabulous figure! A tall, sporty & leggy beauty. I can't believe that she did all her own stunts! Cool! Well, she's an avid surfer so I guess she's game for anything. Brave & cool girl! Hmnnn...I would give 3.5 out of 5 popcorns - Good entertainment, exciting ride with the Diaz & Cruise. :P
