Finally watched this much-awaited movie taken from memoirs by author Elizabeth Gilbert's with my movie buddy, Annie! Splendid! Really an enlightening journey. I guess many of us like Liz, will come to the point whereby we'll be searching what we really want in our lives. Liz had everything a woman been dream of having- a successful career, a husband & a house. However, like many others, she felt lost. & confused. Many a time, when we are pursuing the so-called the 'right' life to be , like Liz, in the midst of it all, we lose ourselves. We do for the sake of doing, to be like a 'normal' person with what 'normal' life should be. The standard & pressure of our society 社会的眼光和压力 take a toil of us. Any other thing done otherwise is considered abnormal. I think its very important to know why we do the things we do. Is it because we want to or because we have to? Are we living for others or are we living for ourselves? Balance is the key....to everything....thats what the movie had touched on also. :) & it really speaks to my heart.
Liz felt trapped in her marriage, she & her husband grew apart after married for years. He had always wanted a child but Liz wanted otherwise. So one fine night, for the 1st time in her life, Liz prayed to God & asked Him for directions & answers. After so of which, she finally had the courage to end the marriage. Her hubby hated the decision she made & called her a quitter. Liz couldn't forgive herself & she felt her life is crumbling apart - she didn't even find the joy of tasting good food anymore, therefore she decided to embark on a journey of self-discovery around the world. She found 1) the simple pleasure of nourishment in food in Italy - my favourite scene here was when Liz & her new fren went to buy 'big ladies pants' & she tried so hard to squeeze the jeans on...haha! Liz was so craving for Pizza & she was savouring the italian delicacy & there her fren was talking about being fat, put on weight & her button belly. Reminds me of most of us women! :O For myself, I always have a slogan -If u wanna eat, dun think too much. If u wanna think so much, dun eat! Hello!!! :O We just have to balance it with exercise & appropiate diet. I don't mean that we should literally gorge ourselves with food. But enjoying good food is also a vital way to enjoying life, isn't it! :D 2) touched on her Spirituality in India- Liz's room-mate had a tag "I am silence" on & apparently, she hadn't been speaking for the past 1month & the month's up, she talked like a motormouth to Liz but now its Liz's turn to put the tag on...hilarious! 3)& unexpectedly, inner peace & balance of true love in Bali - The medicine man, Ketut was so cute, funny, sincere & genuine. He gives very wise & sound advice to Liz like a father but yet maintain his humour. Total serenity as I watched Liz embarked on that self-discovery journey, shows that there's more than one way to really let yourself go & see the world! :)
Really therepeutic after watching the movie. I wouldn't mind watching again! Makes me really wanna read the book! :D
Wah, TC looked so engrossed as if she's eating the mike or something...haha!
Making funny faces...
Aren't we cute!
Two pretty babes....I've known Tee Ching since Primary five, when we were 11 years old! How time flies! Gosh! & we've really matured & changed through the years.
Singing my favourite song of all time - YELLOW!
Met up with Tee Ching, whom I haven't been seeing for gosh, almost 2years for KLunch! :D I was extremely elated to see her again & I gave her a big hug the moment I saw her. :) On my birthday, she gave me a surprise call that night & I was so pleasantly surprised! It must be one of the most wonderful pressies that God had given me this year! Thank you, Lord! We chatted for almost 2hours & we fixed an appointment for KSession that Saturday.
It was most fun singing with TC, after so many years, we still have the chemistry when it comes to crooning. We used to go to my house to sing after school during our Secondary School days & it was so much fun! :D TC would always sing the higher pitch & I would always sing the lower pitch. So because of that, I would always feel more comfortable singing the male's part. haha! Gosh, thats why it explain all these years I've always have been rather erhem, masculine. It was not till last year onwards that I started to change, all thanks to my buddy, Ivy. :) For changing me from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan! Hehe!
Sindy sent me Birthday Greetings on FB that she wished for me that I would have nice & pleasant surprises....I'm waiting for more! :D
Was listening to this hit by Lady Gaga recently & it dawned to me regarding the affairs of the heart - Fragile. Life is really like a stage. 戏如人生. Most of the time, the scriptwriters were inspired to write on real life accounts. Many people whom I see, they can excel in their careers but when it come to relationship problems, their IQ & EQ totally Zero. Oops! They dilly-dally & are indecisive, & choose to avoid, escape 逃避. :-S 不果断. I wonder why. I reckon its our upbringing, especially in Asia. We are not being nutured in the areas of expression especially in character building. We listened & talked negatively more than anything else. & how could our self-esteem be build up this way? Especially as compared to most of the Westerners - they are more expressive & say positive words. For me, if I were to have children, I would definitely wanna make sure the environment for them to grow up in is a surreal, positive one. One good for their inner growth -for their spirit, soul & body as well as growth for little creative minds. Freedom. Carefree. With Love.
Back to Lady Gaga's song - Bad Romance. I find the lyrics interesting - there's one part @the beginning "I want your ugly, I want your disease, I want your everything as long as its free...." Many people are caught in bad romance, either unknowingly or knowingly. Some people, though being entangled in a bad relationship, they chose to hang on. Its sad. I think most of these people don't think they deserve the best or they're just hanging on for fear of being single again. They rather hang on to their dear lives to the fruitless relationship than being left on the shelf, so as to speak. :O I've personally know someone like that. She has extreme low-esteem & always talk negatively. Bad Vibes in her. So perhaps because of that...bad romance came looking for her? Coz' what energy we send forth will attract that same energy.
Many a time, the friends & lovers we choose has a big deal to do with our inner selves. Our thoughts & most importantly, do we love ourselves? If we do not love ourselves enough, the relationships we engage in will reflect on that.
As such, not only our physical bodies need to be nourished with good & healthy food. Likewise, our inner-selves too, need to be nourished with the positive thoughts. Coz what's inside of us, will ultimately reflect out sooner or later.
Have Healthy & Wholesome Life, everyone! Feed your soul with the right soul food! ;)
