The annual Academy Awards was held @Kodak Theatre on Sunday night. Other than the interesting & funny combo hosts between Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin, the awards in general is....I only have 1 word to describe...BORING! :-/ My favourite movie "Avatar" only managed to sweep in 4 awards, all technical ones, disappointed. :-( The jury's taste this year seemed to be so-called inspirational, dramatic films, meaning: heavy stuff. A low-budget film about daily lives of U.S soldiers in Iraq, "The Hurt Locker" being the biggest winner with Kathryn Bigelow winning the Best Director. Kathryn Bigelow....what a surname...reminds me of the movie "Deuce Bigelow:American Gigolo" Oops! Haha! As much as its encouraging to know that she's the 1st woman to win this prestigeous award, but suddenly the hype of the film, I don't comprehend. :O I reckon its the content of the film, perhaps reminding the Americans of their family members in the war torn Iraq.
Another surprise winner (well to me is more astonishing), is Sandra Bullock who won the coveted Best Actress Award. I was like????? Hello? She's not known to be a outstanding actress & especially facing with such strong competitors with the fellow two heavyweights nominees - Meryl Streep & Helen Mirren, she still managed to outshine them, wow or errrhhh is either reactions. Well, I guess she has her lucky stars to thank for, in this case, this particular movie "The Blind Side".
Hope next Oscars will be more interesting.
