The Cranberries, playing Zombie. The last song before encore. Then the audience started to get off their seats. :S But Zombie really is & will always be one of the fans' favourite song. It was like a national anthem as the whole indoor stadium sang along with Dolores! Me, I just love Dolores' voice with the electric guitar, perfect combo!
Finally, the much awaited 1st official Concert of The Cranberries. Like how the lead singer, my favourite Dolores O'Riordan put it - its been too long. Indeed! They were scheduled to come during 1996 but was cancelled due to Dolores' leg injury. Meiling & I were so utterly disappointed as we were anticipating it so much. I still remembered that the next day supposingly to be my 1st day @school @Polytechnic. :O The Berries did came in the next few years or so, this time combined concert with No Doubt. I didn't go though.
This time round, I reckon its really been too long so the feeling was kinda hmnnn...unexplained. Familiar yet strange.
Throughout the entire concert, as usual, the typical Singapore audience, really took some time to warm up. I'm not sure is it because most of the fans now would be in their 30s & 40s...not as energetic as before...gone mellow? I'm in the 30s also but I'm anything but mellow! :-S Gosh! Cindy & I said they must have gone to the wrong concert, should go to the Classical Symphony concert instead. & Cindy commented that its like 'senior citizen tour group', you know what I mean. *Wink Wink* haha! C'mon, its a rock concert! Just let your hair down & go crazy & wild & enjoy, man!
The line of the songs were somewhat anti-climax though. From the starting song "Analyse", then the band continued with two other rather slow numbers. Bad choice. & the sound system wasn't good & poor Dolores had problems hearing herself & was struggling. But the pro her, still sounds great anyhow. A real pro pioneer. :) She still looks great & with her famous 'yodelling' power vocals, I'm so much in awe!
I was already in awe of the petite & stylo Dolores when I 1st got to know the band's songs, through my music good taste bro of course. I basically idolised everything about Dolores, her voice, her style, her attitude, especially her very short 'botak' hairstyle & her colourful & full ear-pierces. Because of her, I also have my 3 ear holes punched. I wanted to punch in more ear holes but fear of infection. & I nearly wanted to shave my head as well, haha! I was thinking, if I'm living in the western countries, I would most probably really do that. I was keen to get a tattoo too @that time. Those self-expressed & rebellious growing years. :P
It was a real Karaoke session for me as I knew most of the band's songs by hard already & it was sheer joy hearing them played LIVE. :)
The band - Dolores O'Riordan, Mike & Noel Hogan, Fergal Lawler have matured over the years. They have taken a well-deserved break & returned. & us fans, will always & continue to Linger on their tunes. :)
