The Republic came alive last weekend with the 1st ever Night Race held here. Everytime it was only on Sports channels that you normally get to watch it. But somehow, to see it in our nation itself, the feeling was ectastic! :) My boss gave out 2 pairs of VIP tics for balloting but sadly, I didn't get it. However, it was fun watching @home as well, while baby-sitting my nephews, coz' my bro & sis-in-law went to watch the Finals. 3 days of absolute buzz- with Practicing Session on Friday, Qualifying Race on Saturday & The Final Race on Sunday. The most exciting of course was the Finals, no doubt & with unexpected results! Renault driver Fernando Alonso unexpectedly won the race, with Williams' Rico Rosberg came in 2nd (He's kinda cute &boyish chap.haha! :P) & the highly news generator, McLaren Mercedes Lewis Hamilton landed on the 3rd spot. With so much buzz surrounding him, I thought he was darn good & would definitely came in 1st with hot favourite Felipe Massa following close behind. However, Felipe Massa could only land a miserable no.13....oooow! Because of the what was described by the press as "Comical Error"- He drove off with the fueling hose still attached to his Ferrari in the pit stop! I was dumbfounded when I saw it on TV. I was like, OMG! :O Later on, I heard from my sis-in-law that apparently as he saw the green lights on, thats why he went off. Some silly mistake & very comical indeed! Hee!
To see so many cars driving off @the same time was darn exhilarating! My mum said too exciting, she didn't wanna watch coz' scared will have heart attack. Haha! She reminisced during younger times when she watched the F1 Race @Malaysia with her friends & how enjoyable it was. It sounded more fun in the olden days.
Kudos to the Republic for the successful event! Even the F1 founder was greatly impressed. I'm definitely looking forward to next year's race... I wanna go! Just for the experience of it. :P
