Lunch with Sensei

Last saturday, in the midst of the F1 GP buzz, Hannah & I met up with Dominic, our Guitar Sensei. Its been quite some time since we last met him. I think the last time was during a guitar performance that he invited us, 2 years ago @NUS. Oh after that, I did saw him outside Lot 1 & chatted with him awhile.

I took guitar class @Yamaha Lot 1 for a few years from 2000 till 2004. I remembered the 1st day @class, Dominic made fun of my name calling me "Jeanette" with that very annoying french accent to the touch of it. & he was quite fierce & somewhat, unapproachable, that was my 1st impression of him. I thought to myself, "Oh Gosh, how am I gonna survive with this oddball teacher around?" I didn't think I would wanna stay long. However, divine appointment led me to know Hannah from the same class. As time passed, Dominic slowly opened up to us as we were the most senior students who stayed on. During lessons, if we didn't practise enough, we would always try to stall the time by finding topics to chat with Dominic, hoping to distract him & that we didn't have to play the guitar. But then, Dominic saw through our tricks everytime & would tell us to "Play, play, play!". haha! Every of his birthday, we would buy cake to celebrate with him & take hilarious photos of him. He said that he always want to be serious but we always spoil his plan by doing funny things, joking around. :P He finally succumbed & came out of the closet & revealed his comical self! Hee! Those were the fond memories. Sadly, I've already

'returned all the guitar skills' to him. :( Hannah is still taking other lessons & keeping up with her practice more than I do, which is good.

Anyway, our appointment with our beloved sensei was absolutely fun. We had a real good time eating & chatting. Dominic took us to a cafe opposite National Library for lunch. It was nice & cosy, I liked it. Hannah & I ordered the sandwiches that Dominic recommended & he tried the pasta. We saved some room in our stomaches for dessert, how could we forget it, most importantly...hee! The cakes were delicious, homemade by some housewives. We took turns to try on the cakes each of us ordered, fun! In the end, the verdict? The one that I ordered-Mango Cheesecake got the most votes. :D
With Dominic around, he could absolutely talk about anything. & best of all, the topics were interesting. He is very knowledgable. & his facial expression were the most interesting! haha! Now then we know that he just got married to his girlfriend last year. I didn't notice the ring on his finger (Hannah later on told me)@all till he mentioned his wife. I was very surprised coz' he mentioned before that they didn't had plans to get married but it was to please her folks. But he looks happier now. We're glad. Really marriage bliss for him. :) & its written all over his face!
After that, we walked around & went with him to shop around the guitar shops @Peninsular S.C. I didn't know that there were so many guitar shops there! Dominic counted, it was like 4-5, side by side! It was interesting to listen to him explaining of all things guitar. He patiently answered to our every questions & with enthusiasm. We parted ways sooner after. Hope we can meet up with him pretty soon.
I find Dominic likes experimenting new food & making interesting comments on them. I guess life should be like that, experimenting new things. :)
